Position:    SGSS Senior Software Engineer

Location:   Washington, DC
 

Description:         

Space Ground System Solutions has an immediate full-time opening for a senior level software engineer. The position will be responsible for development of the Virtual Mission Operations Center (VMOC) software, and is located at the Naval Research Lab (NRL) in Washington DC.

Minimum/General Experience:

• Five (5) years of experience performing software development
• Experience designing, implementing and debugging software features
• Experience with Java/Java EE development
• Experience with web application server development
• Experience with GUI development
• Experience with software configuration management tools (example: GIT)

Preferred Experience/Skills:

• Experience with Satellite Systems or Satellite Operations
• Experience interacting with relational databases: MySQL, PostGreSQL, and/or Oracle DB
• Experience with Java Persistence API (JPA)
• Experience with application server development on JBOSS Wildfly server
• Experience with application server development on Oracle WebLogic server
• Ability to communicate effectively with testers for investigating and resolving anomalies
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and failure analysis             

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform analysis of requirements and software documentation, and confer with customers to aid in designing optimal solutions for new features
• Perform research on new technologies or methodologies for implementing complex workflows
• Document design decisions for presentation and review
• Provide adequate testing information in the form of scripts or directions for newly developed features
• Troubleshoot software system issues and work with other developers and testers to resolve test anomalies
• Work as an effective team member across multiple disciplines (software development, configuration management, software architecture, system integration)
• Ability to work in an Agile environment
• Travel:  < 10%

Minimum Education:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science/Engineering or Software Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent combination of formal education and experience.

Security Clearance:

• Must be a US Citizen, and possess a current, active DoD Secret Clearance
• Must meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining a TS clearance
• Selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements associated with access to classified information
