Software Engineer 

Braxton Services Company (BSC), a subsidiary of Braxton Science & Technology Group (BSTG), has an opening to support our growing business within the National Security Space market. Our customer is architecting, developing, and supporting National Security Space Launch enterprise. We are seeking a motivated individual who seeks to work within a team environment where creative solutions are encouraged and technical challenges are the norm. The Software Engineer works with the software/systems engineering community to assess the Space and Missile Systems Center/Launch Enterprise (SMC/ECL) systems engineering program documents as required for adequacy, currency, and compliance with the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Air Force (AF), Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), and SMC instructions. The Software Engineer assesses SMC/ECL internal compliance with the approved SMC/ECL software and systems engineering documents on an annual basis, or as otherwise required by SMC/ECL. This is considered a mid-level engineering position.

Shift:  M-F, Days

Travel:  Some travel may be required periodically in support of the program

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, implement, test, and document software for inclusion in high-profile launch and communications systems.
  • Work closely with system engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality, reliable systems to the end customer.
  • Help construct unit and system/regression level test cases.
  • Participate in design/code reviews for project/product initiatives.
  • Assisting in prototype and tool development.
  • Creation of test scenarios and the designing of test cases for test plans for implementation.
  • Configuration of the software test environment test bed to support testing.

 

Minimum Security Clearance

  • Active Secret

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience designing and developing plans, processes, procedures, functional and data requirements analysis, system analysis, and documentation preparation for complex systems.
  • Experience in areas of all software development life cycle phases including: requirements gathering and analysis; designing solutions and databases; developing, testing, and implementing products;
  • Demonstrated background training users, demonstrating products; performing maintenance and responding to service requests for supported software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

 

Education and Training Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related STEM areas


Experience Required

  • not less than 8 years as software engineer, programmer, software developer or other related areas

 

Additional Desired Qualifications, Skills, Certifications

  • Experience involving National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Launches, or Experience involving Launch Vehicles used in NSSL launches or similar category with other federal agencies such as NASA, NOAA, NSA etc.
  • Experience involving Launch Vehicles used in NSSL launches or similar category with commercial launches, or Experience involving Launch Vehicles used in orbital launches.
  • Experience involving ballistic missile launches, Launch Process and Operations Experience, Mission Integration Experience, Experience involving Ground Systems, Experience involving other than launch vehicle Propulsion systems comparable to launch propulsion.
