We are seeking Network Administration Operators to support the GPS Engineering, Analysis and Remote Site Sustainment II (GEARSS II) contract. The GEARSS II contract is the vehicle the GPS program sustainment organization (SMC/GPL) will use to satisfy the AFSPC/CC vision that all sustainment contracts for mission system maintenance and support would fall under SMC contract management and administration. SMC/GPL is chartered to ensure the Operational Control Segment (OCS) viability until the next generation control segment (OCX) effort is developed and fielded. GEARSS II provides organizational maintenance and operational support services to the operational unit that will include remote site technicians, Network Administrative Officers (NAO) and operations support

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical degree from an accredited college OR equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience with satellite-based system with preference for GPS crew operations, remote site operations, and GPS subject matter expertise
  • Have current IAT Level 2 certification such as Security+ or CISSP
  • Basic understanding of at least 3 of the following: 
      • Networking & telecommunications protocols (TCP/IP, GSM, SIP)
      • Linus and/or Unix operating systems
      • Demonstrated knowledge with test equipment (network analyzers, Wireshark, state machines)
      • Python, PERL, TCL, LABVIEW or similar programming languages
      • Machine virtualization, specifically VMware Desktop and ESXi
      • Demonstrated ability to script test procedures
  • U.S citizenship required
  • Must be US Government Clearance Eligible

Job Description

This position will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide mission essential NAO support at the GPS Master Control Station (MCS) and Alternate MCS (AMCS) in accordance with the technical orders and maintaining required NAO proficiency.
  • Monitor and coordinate status of all GPS ground systems and communication lines, into and out of the MCS and AMCS
  • Analyze and isolate all communications-related malfunctions and reconfigure ground systems equipment as required in accordance with published technical orders.
  • Conduct mission operations transfer procedures between MCS and AMCS and deploy to the back-up location, as required.
  • Maintain the NAO Position Training Standard (PTS)/Position Training Guide (PTG).
  • Update the NAO PTS/PTG, as required, to include system configuration updates, software maintenance releases, system modifications or upgrades.

  • Demonstrated ability to script test procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge in test automation
  • Demonstrated knowledge in networking and telecommunications protocols (TCP/IP, GSM, SS7, SIP)
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Linux and/or Unix operating systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge with laboratory test equipment (network analyzers, Wireshark, state machines)
  • Demonstrated systems integration experience
  • Knowledgeable in Python, PERL, TCL, LABVIEW or similar programming languages desired
  • Knowledgeable about high-availability software and hardware systems desired
  • Knowledgeable about machine virtualization, specifically VMware Desktop and ESXi desired
  • Knowledgeable about databases such as oracle, MySQL, SQLServer desired
  • Knowledgeable about IP networks, routers and switches desired
  • Interest in providing high quality, cost effective system integration, test and support services
  • Drive toward continuous innovation, adding-value, reducing cycle time and cost
  • Developing professionally, learning and sharing knowledge
  • Demonstrated relevant technical abilities
  • Strong written communication skills – will write technical memos, documentation, and scripts
