Shift & Travel

                M-F, Days

                10% (or less) travel required

 

MAJOR FUNCTION: This position will focus on DevSecOps deployment automation for Platform Services. The PaaS engineer will be responsible for building, securing, and operating multi-tenant runtime environments deployed across multiple infrastructure configurations: including AWS GovCloud, VSphere, and OpenStack, including on-premises configurations. The platform engineer team will work closely with cyber security engineering, network engineering, the integration and deployment teams, as well as the engineering teams running tenant applications, to maintain a secure and available environment for all customer missions.

 

Responsibilities - Essential Functions

  • Using enterprise automation tools (such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, etc.) to deploy and maintain complex environments like IaC (Infrastructure as code) and PaC (Platform as code).
  • Employing the latest technologies to support CI/CD in virtualized and/or cloud environments
  • Deploying and supporting various environments within AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Deployment and support of common on-prem infrastructure orchestration technologies targeting infrastructures based on OpenStack, vSphere or similar.
  • Complete all initial and annual training requirements and disclosures as outlined by BSTG.
  • Perform all other duties as required, consistent with the goals, objectives and responsibilities of the department.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or

related discipline.

  • 5+ of computer systems design, integration, and maintenance, with at least 2 years of

experience with DevOps orchestration.

 

Required Skills/Abilities – Competencies

  • Experience working with common cloud infrastructure providers, private cloud infrastructure, or

enterprise virtualization platforms. Examples include AWS, Azure, VMWare Cloud Foundation, Openstack etc.

  • Automation experience using technologies such as Bash, Python, Terraform, Ansible, Packer,

and Puppet.

  • Knowledge and understanding of containers and container orchestration.
  • Ability to work closely with the Cybersecurity teams to ensure successful and compliant

implementation and delivery via automation.

  • Agile mindset and likes to tackle complex problems and take initiative and responsibility.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Direct hands-on experience with common container orchestration technologies – Kubernetes,

OpenShift, Rancher, GKS, AWS EKS, etc.

  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Splunk and Elk Stack.
  • Active and direct experience with securing systems to DoD standards via automation.
  • Experience with industry standard patch maintenance systems such as Satellite and WSUS.
  • Active DoD TS/SSBI or SCI Clearance

 

Security Clearance Requirements: The ability to obtain a Department of Defense Top Secret Security Clearance.
