Description

SGSS has an immediate full-time opening for a senior web developer to work a hybrid position based out of our office in Alexandria, VA.  The successful candidate will design and implement software for a large-scale command and control system as well as helping to guide the development team by evaluating packages/libraries/new technologies for new development and assisting/mentoring more junior team members.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop front-end and back-end software for web applications in a Linux RHEL environment
  • Research and evaluate tools to help guide project development
  • Build new web applications from ground up
  • Participate in UI design for web applications
  • Knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards 
  • Develop React/JavaScript and Java software
  • Perform System and Software level Integration and Test
  • Create and execute integration and system tests and document test procedures
  • Troubleshoot software system issues
  • Stay up to date on software development best practices and new technologies for the web

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD TS/SCI security clearance 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study
  • Minimum of ten (10) years professional work experience (will consider a combination of formal education and relative work experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Proficiency developing and testing web applications in a Linux environment
  • Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Experience with package management tools like npm or yarn
  • Familiarity with multiple JavaScript libraries for building user interfaces
  • Experience using software configuration management tools (ClearCase, GIT, Mercurial, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with ReactJS and Redux
  • Familiarity with web server management/configuration
  • Good understanding of web application architecture
  • UX design experience
  • Proficiency with Java/C++/Golang
  • Experience interacting with databases (examples: InfluxDB, MySQL, etc.)
  • Desire to work in the space industry developing satellite command and control systems for test and operations
