MAJOR FUNCTION: The SPI Sr. Software Engineer / Integrator will directly support the US Air Force Space and Missile Center (SMC) Enterprise Ground Service (EGS) SATOPS, Prototyping, and Integration (SPI) program and its goal to deploy a universal command and control architecture aimed at eliminating restrictions by continuously delivering enterprise tactical command and control services and applications that, when integrated with mission partner unique services and applications through the use of system engineering principles, will fully enable today’s modern warfighter.

 

Responsibilities - Essential Functions

  • Retrofit, redesign, develop, and test Mission Unique (MU) software that collects, manages and presents large data management services
  • Brief and communicate regularly with the EGS government Product Owner
  • Actively participate in design meetings to provide input and guidance on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation and presentations as required
  • Develop, execute, and maintain integration and test scenarios, test scripts and document results
  • Troubleshoot, report, and document integration anomalies and defects
  • Create proof of concept, prototype(s) to illustrate and add value for solution design
  • Perform and oversee proper configuration management of software processes and documentation
  • Complete all initial and annual training requirements and disclosures as outlined by BSTG.
  • Perform all other duties as required, consistent with the goals, objectives and responsibilities of the department.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or other related technical discipline
  • 15+ years’ experience with a Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years’ experience with a Master’s Degree

Required Skills/Abilities – Competencies

  • Experience in leading diverse application development teams
  • Software engineering with the following technologies:
    • C#, C++, Java or Python programming languages
    • JSON, JavaScript, XML
    • GIT, Jenkins, Atlassian Jira
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows operating systems
    • Amazon Web Services or other virtualization technologies
    • Network services, protocols, and serialization techniques
  • Big data management working with MongoDB, MySQL, SQL, and a variety of databases including NOSQL
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Adaptable, creative, ideation and presentation of optional solutions
  • Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets
  • Enterprise Ground Services experience
  • Experience working with GMSEC/C2MS or messaging services
  • Agile software development
  • GIT, Ansible and Jenkins experience
  • Streaming data management tools (Kafka)

Security Clearance Requirements: Has the ability to obtain a DoD Secret and is clearable to TS/SCI
