Shift & Travel

                M-F, Days

                10% (or less) travel required

 

MAJOR FUNCTION: The Senior Systems Engineer/Solution Architect will directly support the US Space Force’s Space and Missile Center (SMC) Enterprise Ground Service (EGS) SATOPS, Prototyping, and Integration (SPI) program and its goal to deploy a universal command and control architecture aimed at eliminating restrictions by continuously delivering enterprise tactical command and control services and applications that, when integrated with mission partner unique services and applications through the use of system engineering principles, will fully enable today’s modern warfighter.

Responsibilities - Essential Functions

· Proven technology and interpersonal experience

· Help Agile teams achieve and work within a defined common architecture

· Work closely with other engineering disciplines

· Assess IT capability needs of EGS Stakeholders

· Document and present technical definition on services

· Implement service integration on a large scale

· Creative ideation for streamlined and optimized operations in application and infrastructure

  • Complete all initial and annual training requirements and disclosures as outlined by BSTG.
  • Perform all other duties as required, consistent with the goals, objectives and responsibilities of the department.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, Physics, or other related technical discipline
  • 15+ years’ experience with a Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years’ experience with a Master’s Degree

 

Required Skills/Abilities – Competencies

  • Experience in Enterprise integration concepts and technologies to include Service-oriented architecture-based solutions
  • Ability to prototype and perform software development tasks in multiple programming languages, such as C/C++, C#, Java, Python, .NET, JSON, JavaScript on multiple integrated and hybrid infrastructure platforms
  • Understanding of message-oriented middleware, software design patterns, JMS, and web type services
  • Engineer/Architect service-based solutions within a large hybrid cloud and/or Virtual environment
  • Ability to architect in cybersecurity components across multiple domains
  • Provide direction and oversight for service and system design through the entire life cycle
  • Interface with internal and external customers and teams as the primary technical liaison
  • Evaluate customer and operational needs to define performance requirements
  • Assure compatibility of all physical and functional interfaces
  • Develop architecture artifacts to be used for system understanding, deployment, and troubleshooting
  • Support agile team meetings as a EGS technical focal point  

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

· Good written and presentation/verbal communication skills

· Working experience with RESTful, SOAP and distributed enterprise solutions

· System engineering design and development with state-of-the-art technologies

· System modeling approaches, diagraming and presentations

  • Spacecraft Ground System domain experience
  • Teaching and training background to effectively communicate concepts and design ideas

· Ability to work in a multi-stakeholder environment

· Data management experience in big data, relational and NoSQL environments

· Collaborate effectively with multi-cultural and often dispersed teams

· Seasoned and well-rounded engineering background

· Experience in microservices and event-based architecture

· Experience with existing and emerging cloud-based technologies

· CI/CD understanding

Security Clearance Requirements: Has ability to obtain a DoD Secret and is clearable to TS/SCI
