The platform engineering team at SGSS is responsible for the design and implementation of systems that support the successful development and deployment of satellite ground station software. Our engineers apply their knowledge of software, operating systems, networks, databases, architectures, and tools to improve the maintainability and operability of software systems. If you’ve previously held roles in software, build/release, architecture, IT automation, site reliability, or DevOps, you may be a good fit for our team.  In this role, you will help SGSS continue its expansion into cloud-based infrastructure and application deployments by providing deep knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and other products in the Red Hat ecosystem. You will help architect, build, and harden systems containing government-off-the-shelf, commercial, and open-source software. Your ability to distill requirements and propose technology solutions to engineers outside the platform team will be critical. The position is located at our corporate office in Melbourne, FL.

 

General Experience:

Ten (10) years of Redhat Enterprise Linux system administration or equivalent.

 

Qualifications:

  • Expertise provisioning physical and virtual servers with Red Hat Satellite.
  • Expertise administering and troubleshooting Linux hosts and networks (load, LVM, RPMs, scripting, DNS, routing, firewalls).
  • Expertise with virtualization and cloud platforms such as OpenStack, AWS, VMware, RHV, Docker, or OpenShift/OKD/Kubernetes.
  • Experience implementing DoD security guidelines (STIGs).
  • Experience automating configurations with Ansible, Salt, Puppet, AWX/Tower, or similar.
  • Experience managing LDAP, especially within Red Hat IDM.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and log aggregation: Elasticsearch, Logstash, Beats, Sensu, LibreNMS.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, Jenkins, etc.
  • Proficient with git, PKI concepts.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Automate away the configuration, monitoring, and hardening of labs and production systems in physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
  • Identify commercial or open-source tools that improve the operability of satellite ground software and SGSS infrastructure.
  • Develop tooling that streamlines internal development and QA experiences.
  • Assist in day-to-day system administration tasks to keep infrastructure running smoothly.
  • Travel, up to 10%

 

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Engineering or other relevant Engineering field from an accredited university or equivalent combination of formal education and experience.

 

Security Clearance:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Must meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining an active DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • Selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements associated with access to classified information.
  • Must be DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 compliant
