Braxton Science & Technology Group (BSTG), a Parsons company, seeks a Software Engineer to work on NASA's Space Communication Network Services (SCNS) program at the White Sands Complex (WSC) in Las Cruces, New Mexico. 
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual comfortable working with a cross-disciplinary team in a fast-paced and challenging environment.  This position provides opportunities to work with and create cutting-edge technology in support of domestic and international space programs.


Position Responsibilities 

  • Analyze, design, implement, test, and document software for inclusion in high-profile satellite communications systems
  • Work closely with system engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality, reliable systems to the customer
  • Help construct unit and system/regression level test cases
  • Participate in design/code reviews for project/product initiatives
  • Assist in prototype and tool development


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field



Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficiency in SQL, Ada, C, C++, Java, and/or LabVIEW
  • Familiarity with XML, HTML, Tcl, Python, and shell scripting languages
  • Experience with Linux and Windows development environments and tools (Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc.)
  • Self-motivated and disciplined - able to work with minimal supervision
  • Quick learner and enjoys a challenge of doing something new
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to pass a security background check
  • Satellite communications protocols
  • Satellite ground data systems 
  • Tracking and Data Relay Satellite system 
  • 5+ years of professional programming 
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking
  • DEC Alphas and OpenVMS
  • Wireshark
  • Memory and performance profiling
