Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Engineer
Overview
The Braxton IaaS Engineer will work on the Satellite Operations, Prototyping, and Integration (SPI) program in support of the SMC/EGS program office. The IaaS engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining secure and optimized cloud (AWS and Azure), on-premises, and hybrid cloud environments. The IaaS engineer will work closely with cyber security engineering, network engineering, the integration and deployment Scrum teams to maintain a secure and available cloud environment for all customer missions. This position requires a strong background in cloud deployment and management. The desired candidate will need to help the SPI team with the design and implementation of the continuous delivery platform and with an automated workflow. This person will be highly motivated, focused, and proficient in implementing SPI’s cloud-based and on-premises infrastructures.
Work includes exposing hypervisor services to provision processing, storage, networks, and other fundamental computing resources where the consumer can deploy and run arbitrary software, which includes operating systems and applications across multiple diverse hypervisor technology stacks (sandboxes), documenting those services within the EGS service catalog, supporting Government product owners, and continuing to sustain the IaaS services within a cross-functional Scrum team.

Position Responsibilities
- Deploy and support AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments by implementing DevSecOps via CI/CD pipelines
- Maintain and improve upon the IaaS CI/CD pipelines
- Deploy OpenStack and vSphere on-premises IaaS environments
- Work with execution frameworks and modern configuration management tools such as Ansible
- Work with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform and Docker
Additional Expectations
- Possess knowledge networking concepts and protocols; network certifications CCNA, CCP or equivalent proficiencies
- Possess excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Possess technical and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot end-to-end systems
- Must be willing to travel on occasion (<10%)
- Familiar with concepts such as distributed systems, multi-tenant systems, network protocols, network security, SSL, PKIX, routing, and load balancing.
- Familiar with the implementation of cyber/IA controls; NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, ICD 503, RMF, DoD ILs
Minimum Security Clearance
- Has the ability to obtain a DoD Secret
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working in hybrid cloud environments — AWS, Azure, OpenShift, vSphere, etc...
- Automation experience: Bash/Perl, Ansible, CI/CD with Jenkins, Gitlab
- Agile mindset and likes to tackle complex problems and take initiative and responsibility.
- Strong written and oral communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD TS/SSBI or SCI Clearance
Education and Training Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Systems/Software, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline required
