Hardware Engineer / Spacecraft Operator

Braxton Technologies, LLC, a division of Braxton Science & Technology Group (BSTG), a technology solutions company, has an opening for a mid to senior level Hardware Engineer / Spacecraft Operator to support our growing business.                                           

Position Responsibilities:
•    Install, upgrade and replace ground control system components ensuring coordinated engineering field change 
•    Monitor spacecraft and ground control system (computers, network and ground antenna) performance, perform trending analysis and provide real time resolution of problems to avoid and/or minimize downtime
•    Perform spacecraft and ground control system restore, fault isolation, and system maintenance actions as required
•    Execute spacecraft commanding and State of Health, maneuver and mission activities to include mission planning and scheduling
•    Assist in the design of computer systems to include system sizing (CPU, memory, storage), cabling, mechanical design (rack elevations) and power design
•    Assist in the installation, verification and test of new hardware and associated software/firmware versions as it pertains to computer systems and communications and networks
•    Provide expertise in equipment evaluation and selection. Develop detailed Bills of Material (BOMs) that support the design of the computer system
•    Manage and maintain COMSEC/crypto material
•    Review and recommend changes/technical solutions to Program Support Agreements
•    Conduct site surveys for system installations

Required Qualifications and Skills:
•    Experience and working knowledge of spacecraft, data processing, storage, network and crypto
•    Experience working in an operational environment and maintaining situational awareness for spacecraft and ground control system activities
•    Working knowledge of Telemetry, Tracking and Commanding (TT&C) and ground control system applications
•    Working understanding of power and cooling requirement, rack design for data processing and network equipment with experience terminating varying cable types
•    Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to identify system issues and provide technical advice
•    Familiarity with MS Visio or other drafting programs
•    BICSI Certification desired

Education and Training Required:
•    Technical Bachelor's Degree preferred, Technical Associates Degree acceptable
•    Spacecraft and ground control system operator certification, training or actual experience

Minimum Security Clearance:   
•    DoD TS; SCI Eligible or Existing SCI Preferred 

Minimum Years of Experience:
•    4 years
