Hardware Engineer
Braxton Technologies, LLC, a division of Braxton Science & Technology Group (BSTG), a technology solutions company, has an opening for a mid to senior level Hardware Engineer to support our growing business.
Position Responsibilities:
• Execute and manage purchase orders
• Perform Trade Studies and market/product research in support of system upgrades and product modernization
• Diagnose and repair computer system failures including PC workstations, servers and network equipment
• Install, upgrade and replace ground control system components ensuring coordinated engineering field changes
• Assist in the design of computer systems to include system sizing (CPU, memory, storage), cabling, mechanical design (rack elevations), and power design requirements
• Assist in the installation, verification and test of new hardware and associated software/firmware versions as it pertains to computer systems and communications and networks
• Provide expertise in equipment evaluation and selection. Develop detailed Bills of Material (BOMs) that support the design of the computer system
• Manage and maintain COMSEC/crypto material
• Review and recommend changes/technical solutions to Program Support
• Conduct site surveys for system installations
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience and working knowledge of spacecraft, data processing, storage, network and crypto solutions
• Experience working in an operational environment and maintaining situational awareness for spacecraft and ground control system activities
• Working knowledge of Telemetry, Tracking and Commanding (TT&C) and ground control system applications
• Working understanding of power and cooling requirement, rack design for data processing and network equipment with experience terminating varying cable types
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to identify system issues and provide technical advice
• Familiarity with MS Visio or other drafting programs
• Knowledge of low level PC architecture including Plug ‘n Play, expansion buses,
• Proficient with electronic testing tools including multimeter and oscilloscope
• Knowledge of serial communication standards & protocols including EIA530, HDLC/SDLC
• Proficiency with virtualization technologies including VMWare desired
• A+, Security+ or demonstrated equivalent proficiency desired
Education and Training Required:
• Technical Bachelor's Degree preferred, Technical Associates Degree acceptable
Minimum Security Clearance:
• DoD Secret security clearance
• Preference will be given to candidates with active TS/SCI clearances
