Shift & Travel

                M-F, Days

                25% (or less) travel required

 

MAJOR FUNCTION: Support development of a complex suite of applications that satisfy varying needs of multiple satellite ground system functions by developing new and enhancing existing capabilities and functionality and resolving defects and anomalies. Ensure developed product meets customer and user requirements and design objectives. Participate in and lead design, technical, and programmatic meetings and contribute to resolution of issues.  Develops and reviews technical and programmatic documentation

 

Responsibilities - Essential functions

  • Develop custom, high-performance, software applications and systems especially those related to satellite and ground system simulations
  • Design, develop and adapt scientific methods and techniques to recommend solutions for computer problems
  • Analyze, interpret and apply computer science procedures in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions
  • Contribute to software development process, practices, and infrastructure improvement
  • Complete all initial and annual training requirements and disclosures as outlined by BSTG.
  • Perform all other duties as required, consistent with the goals, objectives and responsibilities of the department.
  • Supports principal/lead engineers and program managers in developing subsystem solutions through multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle, and in developing other work products of moderate complexity
  • Verifies work products meet detailed customer and user requirements and other design objectives
  • Leads design, technical, and programmatic meetings, and resolves issues
  • Develops and reviews integrated technical and programmatic documentation
  • Complete all initial and annual training requirements and disclosures as outlined by BSTG
  • Perform all other duties as required, consistent with the goals, objectives and responsibilities of the department

 

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics. Or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of experience with a Master’s Degree

 

Required Skills/Abilities – Competencies

  • Experience with the following technologies: C++ programming language, Windows and RedHat Linux operating systems
  • Experienced in computer science concepts and principles of standard computer science practices, methods, and techniques.
  • Strong object-oriented language experience to include C++
  • Experience in satellite ground systems, satellite command and control, or mission scheduling
  • Excellent verbal / written communication and organizational skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Team-oriented personality
  • Strong integration, debugging, and problem-solving skills with 3rd party products or products developed by other engineering teams.

 

Preferred experience and qualifications

  • GIT software version control system
  • QT, Boost, XML
  • Agile software development
  • Multi-threaded software programming
  • Experience in software simulation
  • Experience with various service bus architectures
  • Exposure to EGS C2MS specification
  • Exposure to NRL GOTS product Neptune
     

Security Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance required
