Space Ground System Solutions has a full-time opening for a Senior Software Engineer. Our focus is to provide our customers with practical, state of the art solutions to complex communications, command, control and intelligence applications. The position is for a software developer to design, implement, test and validate software used to command and control satellites and payloads on orbit.  The position is located at our corporate office in Melbourne, FL or Alexandria, VA.

 

General Experience:

Five (5) to ten(10) years of software engineering/development experience using C/C++ in a Linux environment, with some experience in a lead position.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or similar operating systems
  • Knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Go
  • Experience writing scripts (examples: shell scripting, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with software configuration management tools (examples: git, BitBucket, Jira, etc.).
  • Familiarity with virtualization and cloud technologies (examples: AWS, OpenStack, VMware, RHEV, etc.)
  • Familiarity with web technologies (examples: HTML, CSS, React, REST, JSON, WildFly, etc.)
  • Familiarity with messaging servers (examples: ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, WebSphereMQ, ZeroMQ, GMSEC, etc.)
  • Experience documenting test results for corrective actions
  • Experience interacting with databases (examples: MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Desire to work in the space industry developing satellite command and control systems for test and operations      

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • C/C++/Go/Linux RHEL software development
  • Design and implement software for a large-scale command and control system
  • Troubleshoot and report software anomalies
  • Ability to work in a team environment, leading a small team of developers
  • Apply agile development practices and techniques to adapt rapidly to changing requirements and schedules

 

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Engineering or other relevant Engineering field from an accredited university or equivalent combination of formal education and experience.

 

Security Clearance:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining an active DoD Secret clearance
  • Selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements associated with access to classified information.
