Braxton Technologies, LLC, a division of Braxton Science & Technology Group (BSTG), a technology solutions company, has an opening for a mid to senior-level Windows Systems Administrator / Network Engineer to support our growing business.

Overview
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Job Title: Windows Systems Administrator / Network Engineer
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with industry standard and experience
Shift: M-F, Days.  Work within the team to ensure at least one person coverage from 7AM to 5PM daily.  There is minimal telecommuting available since there is a high customer interaction.  A typical work week is 44 hours.
Travel: Local travel within a mile of Braxton downtown locations.  Occasional travel by air is possible.


Position Description

The position is geared toward a person with 5+ years of IT experience in both Windows System Administrator and Cisco Networking.  The ideal candidate will have flexibility in the IT organization to support growing needs in corporate, product, and cybersecurity support.  The corporate team is moving toward a matrixed approach to tasks as well as support for IT Corporate and IT R&D projects.  This position is targeted to begin with IT Corporate support.   

The following allocation of time is an average and may fluctuate weekly.  The current team is also developing an responsibility matrix to identify primary, backup, and rotating tertiary responsibilities to encourage cross-training among all team members.

Systems Administration, 40%

Support and maintains:

  • Primary
    • Windows 10
    • Windows Server 2016
    • Veeam backup
    • Active Directory
    • SharePoint
    • All IT positions are responsible for rotating and monitoring helpdesk tickets
  • Backup
    • VMware
    • VSAN & VSAN Switching
    • vCenter

Network Engineering: 40%

The Braxton IT Team supports networking for the O’Neil Group, Catalyst Campus, Braxton Technologies and a couple of other NDA-protected entities.  All of these are currently supported with Braxton’s current Network Architect.  Braxton is hiring for two positions with network engineering responsibilities that will split primary and backup roles for the entities above.  The chosen candidate will design or assist with design changes and implement the solution.  Day to day includes health and monitoring.  The entire network is Cisco, so the ideal candidate will have a mid-senior level command of this vendor.     

Special Projects, 20%

Special projects continually change.  Below are non-inclusive examples:

  • Surge to assist the IT R&D projects
  • Information Assurance
    • Network scanning
    • Penetration testing
    • Cybersecurity monitoring
    • DMVPN setup among other BSTG divisions
    • 802.1X
  • Technical refresh assessment
  • Budget input
  • Budget tracking

Minimum Security Clearance

  • Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance preferred (or used within the past 2 years)
  • US Citizenship is required
If this position requires a government clearance, the applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for accessing classified information.

  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
  • Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk).
  • Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Knowledge of information technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g., firewalls, demilitarized zones, encryption).
  • Knowledge of network access, identity, and access management (e.g., public key infrastructure, Oauth, OpenID, SAML, SPML).
  • Knowledge of secure configuration management techniques. (e.g., Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), cybersecurity best practices on cisecurity.org).
  • Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth).
  • Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration, Domain Name System (DNS), and directory services.
  • Knowledge of how to use network analysis tools.
  • Ability to communicate complex information, concepts, or ideas in a confident and well organized manner through verbal, written, and/or visual means.
  • Ability to produce technical documentation.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to install cabling on a ladder with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Experience

  • This position will supervise at least one employee and multiple projects a few months after start. 

Education and Training Required

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or similar field

Minimum Years of Experience

  • Bachelor and 5+ years, or Master and 3+ years

Additional Desired Qualifications, Skills, Certifications, Education

  • Security+ (If no certification, must obtain within 12 months of hire)
  • CCNA (If no certification, must obtain within 12 months of hire)
  • Microsoft Certification
  • Juniper
